FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2026 · MAHAAI GRAND CAFÉ
No joke.
We're actually doing this!
One microphone. One stage. A bunch of people voluntarily putting their sense of humor on the line.
On Friday, November 6, Comedy Café Curaçao makes its debut: an intimate night of live stand-up, fresh talent and stories you probably won’t hear anywhere else.
Not a big theatre show.
A proper comedy night!
Curaçao is full of people with stories, sharp observations and jokes that might still need a little work. That’s exactly why we’re starting small.
At Comedy Café Curaçao, the spotlight belongs to the person holding the mic.
No background chatter competing with the punchlines. Just listen, laugh and see what happens.
A controlled open mic. Emphasis on controlled.
We absolutely want to give first-timers a chance. But 'open mic' does not mean having three rums on the night, deciding you've always been hilarious and grabbing the microphone.
Every comedian applies beforehand. We make an initial selection and invite suitable candidates for an in-person introduction.
That keeps the barrier low without making the line-up a complete surprise to everyone involved.
Comedy Café Curaçao is going live for the very first time at
Mahaai Grand Café!
With fresh comedy talent, performances in Dutch and English, and jokes we're not entirely sure how the audience will react to either 😏
No tickets. No reservations. Just show up, grab a seat and give the comedians their moment in the spotlight.
The First Edition!
Who are we looking for?
Never done stand-up before?
Perfect. Everyone has to start somewhere.
You don’t even have to call yourself a comedian yet to sign up.
Been on stage before?
Also great! We want experienced performers and new talent side by side.
Dutch or English?
Both. For our first Comedy Café Curaçao night, performances in Dutch and English are welcome.
What matters most to us?
That you have potential, something to say, and that you’re willing to seriously prepare your set. And, of course, that you actually show up if you’re selected.
You don’t need a ten-year career plan. You do need to be committed to the concept.
Rather watch than perform?
Excellent! Comedians do need one fairly important thing: an audience.
And trust us, live comedy is a little different from watching funny videos on your phone. You're right there in the middle of it, seeing everything up close, and you never quite know what's going to happen.
So come along, have a laugh, and maybe enjoy a little second-hand embarrassment along the way. That's all part of the fun.
